It’s not often we get to show a custom that has been built with practicality in mind. But this Honda CL400 has been tweaked for London streets, offering easy commuting with a strong dash of style. The man behind the project is Will Starritt of the motorcycle gear shop Urban Rider: “We wanted to create a very narrow bike ideal for filtering. Something light and maneuverable but also able to take a pillion. And with practical lights and tires.”

The Honda CL400 is easy to come by in England, and it’s a good starting point. It’s a simple design with an air-cooled 387cc single, and cheap to maintain. The stock CL400 has a low dry weight of 140 kg (308 lbs), but Urban Rider has taken this down even further to about 122 kg (270 lbs). To put that into perspective, this road-legal CL400 is less than half the weight of a Harley Sportster 883.

GANT Rugger present their Pre-Fall 2013 with a strong collection with a blend of tailored garments as well as easy-to-wear styles put together with a very strong narrative. Said to be influenced heavily by the idea of old military uniforms from World War II but with modern detailing – sports coats, parade gear all combined with classic street-wear like jumpers and cardigans. Personally I am enjoying the strong storyline behind the brand that’s beginning to take fold. The combination of dressing up yet blending in with the environment will lead to a collection that will fit into the wardrobes of many.

Another great capsule line from Unionmade. As the San Francisco store explains – ‘The collection started with a simple idea: The Absence of Color. With the arrival of Spring and so much going on, we thought this would be the perfect time to surround ourselves with easy, neutral pieces.’  The key to these collections (remember when they went all Indigo?) are the exclusives they commission from some of their top labels. No picking pieces to fit, the full range specially made for the Natural project. So, expect to see the likes of Filson, Anonymous-ism, Journal Standard, Tender, Merz B Schawnen, Golden Bear and plenty more. Beautiful V-Stitch sweatshirts, subdued print button down shirts, patchwork pattern socks and clean, unfussy footwear. Grab it all here.

Not entirely new to each, Hiroshi Fujiwara and his fragment design label teamed up once again with Bamford Watch Department. We can safely say that this new collaboration, which includes a fragment design x Bamford Watch Department Rolex Daytona and a fragment design x Bamford Watch Department Rolex Submariner watch, is by far the strongest that we have seen from the two.

Fujiwara not only being a Rolex fan, but also an avid collector since many years, took a very subtle, refined, yet smart and unique approach to the design of the two watches. Inspired by other watches in the Japanese designer’s collection, the outcome is timeless and beautiful.

“The fragment Submariner features the Bamford Watch Department’s unmatched MGT (Military Grade Titanium) coating to give the watch a sleek, timeless black sheen, which is then combined with subtle red highlights on the blacked-out dial and second hand, as well as the Fragment logo on the dial. The fragment Daytona, on the other hand, has received the same elegant black Bamford MGT treatment, but instead features a more striking design, consisting of a black dial with white sub-dials and resplendent blue and white highlights.”

Both watches are limited to 15 pieces globally and are exclusively available through Bamford Watch Department. Furthermore Bamford is holding an exclusive launch event at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, tomorrow, May 23. If you are around, it might be worth passing by and reserving yours right on the spot.
