GANT AB announces the appointment of Christopher Bastin as the new creative director of GANT.Bastin, who will take in his new role per August 1, 2012, joined GANT in 2005 and worked as the company’s lead shirt designer until 2009 when he became head of design for the company’s GANT Rugger label.
Bastin also established and currently curates the GANT historical archive, which is widely used for product inspiration. Earlier in his career Bastin (39) held positions at Acne, Whyred and H&M.
Bastin commented, “As part of the GANT team, I have been lucky to experience many company milestones throughout the years. I hope to build upon these successes as we develop the GANT brand and our collections towards ever higher level of desirability.”
Bastin is credited with the successful re-launch of the company’s GANT Rugger collection and its subsequent contemporary market resurgence. His work helped infuse a modern sensibility to the company that has been integrated in reaching a new generation of customers who have discovered and embraced GANT.
In his new role, Bastin will be responsible for providing seasonal inspiration and design direction for all collections. He will collaborate on marketing and public relations and will also support licensed product extensions. Bastin will serve as global brand spokesperson for all activities relating to design and creative direction.

Bob Andrews, who served as creative director for more than two years, will step down effective July 31, 2012.
Michael Bastian, who is currently engaged in a long term guest designer partnership, will continue his successful collaboration with GANT.
Later this August, additional information will be released detailing Christopher Bastin’s new role within the company as well as his vision for GANT moving forward.
