Solid construction with waxed cotton from Scotland and Made in the USA, these were all sold out pretty quick through the Raised by Wolves online shop. Fortunately, there are still a bunch left in Persona Premium Goods in Nashua, NH. Grab them while you still can.

For about 5-6 months now, i’ve recently been working along side my buddy Jeremy who runs Persona Premium goods in Nashua, NH and Lowell, MA. The Lowell mass store is geared more towards streetwear and the Nashua store, although carrying tons of streetwear, have opened accounts with many menswear-worthy brands. We have been doing quite a bit of teamwork to target a special group of people in the NH / MA who currently are looking for brands like Barbour, Marshall Artist, or Pendleton. I snapped a few pics of the store and some of the current items they have in stock. The store will be undergoing a transformation in the next few months due to opening new accounts and changing the whole aesthetic within.

In their words: “This season’s menswear collection takes a cue from iconic, sophisticated artists—George Harrison, Gregory Peck, Hunter S. Our take on this impossibly cool style includes adding a soft edge to our favorite closet staples.” Look for blazers, cable knit sweaters and tweeds that round out the collection. Club Monaco Autumn 2012 works casually or in more formal affairs. Color, textures and prints make the collection proper for all.

The collection is based around essential, staple garments that make up the backbone of any man’s wardrobe, as well as handily complementing some of the more daring pieces.
As usual, designers Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin have made shirting the base of the collection, producing classic, timeless pieces in a range of washes and materials that stick religiously to the simple, sharp aesthetic you come to expect from the Stockholm-based label. The silhouettes have been limited to three of Our Legacy’s best; the 1940s, thwe 1950s and the ever-popular Generation Shirt. Sitting alongside the shirting is the Great Sweat. One of the most versatile pieces of a man’s wardrobe, the sweater is available in a casual Washed Purple as well as the luxurious Navy Silk, constructed from a premium cotton/silk mix fabric which has a worn-in, easy-to-wear look. Rounding off the ‘Everyman’ range is the Classic Chino, made from a durable Portuguese Cotton Twill with a heavy vintage wash which adds a touch of functionality to the collection. – via End Clothing

Cool Hunting have kindly put together this short film which provides somewhat of a summary of the work Roy undertakes in his studio, focusing in on the machinery he uses to create all the separate elements of his custom jeans, whilst reminding us all of the witty nature of Mr Slaper in the process.

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with Roy back last october when we put together a short interview which has to have been one of our most successful to date, people really love the guy. It’s hard not to appreciate his dedication and passion for making denim, if you think about it it’s pretty crazy that Roy literally knew the bare bones of making a pair of jeans a few years ago, to get to the stage he’s at now must have taken a serious labour of love.

You see exactly this in the range of antique machines that Roy has amounted over time, many of which he’s had to restore and fix himself learning everything from scratch as he goes along. All this new found knowledge has led for a really well made yet individual jean, you certainly won’t find another pair with these elements crafted the Roy Slaper way, these are totally unique.

I sometimes wonder what the resulting jean would be if you got together William Kroll of Tender Co and Roy for a collaborative project, they both bring such individual elements to their work that I think you’d end up with something really special. Surely wishful thinking on my part? so whilst I ponder this lower your gaze below and enjoy.

The backbone of the delivery is a range of simple, premium cotton tees, the standout of which being the baseball-inspired ‘Ian’ Tee, with its authentic screen printed branding and three-quarter length sleeves – available in Navy or Red. This range of tees works fantastically well with both shirts; such as the cotton twill Union Shirt which comes in a Red or Green Plaid Twill; and the military-influenced Buds Shirt, which boldly uses authentic military touches such as ID Tags to add a touch of character to the overshirt.

Similarly, the sweats in the collection work tremendously well alongside the rest of the range, with the vivid colour of the Hellweek Hoody and the military gym-influenced Offset Hoody both utilising premium cotton with unwavering attention to styling and detail. This uncompromising attention to detail is exhibited perfectly in the range of accessories with bookend the collection, the standout piece being the luxurious Tanker Tote Bag, constructed from Military spec cotton canvas and a premium pebble grain leather the bag takes great influeces from vintage Hermès design. Offering an incredible level of durability and utility, as well as a truly timeless look, this is a bag that will serve you faithfully for many years, if not a lifetime, whether used for short trips or your everyday carry”

Fashionary has been on my radar for quite some time. I remember purchasing one from their founder, Penter Yip back in 2009/2010. They have since grown in an amazing way offering an assortment of different products. They made a smaller version of the original sketchbook (which has somewhat of a resemblance to Moleskine Journals). They also offer up memo sets and the current collaboration, Fashionary x Sibling boxset.

This notebook doesn’t just offer light templates to design your fashion ideas, it offers a large database of patterns, types of clothing / pieces, a list of bookmarks via internet sites, layout ideas for presentations and also, font type ideas for your fashion company. I’ve included a photo to give you an idea of the useful information offered in this notebook.

Ursa Major is a “super natural” skincare line for men, founded in 2010. The name comes from a constellation widely seen over the northern hemisphere also known as “The Big Dipper”, a navigational source used by explorers. After living and working in NYC for over a decade, partners Oliver and Emily moved to Vermont to live a simpler lifestyle. Here they created their first product, made from 99% natural ingredients and recyclable packaging. Their skincare blends a variety of essential oils, including aloe, lemon, carrot, bamboo and cedar creating a light-weight, non-greasy formula with mild fragrances. Ursa Major, a company that strives to provide men with a healthy and highly effective skincare solution, has had a huge success with their newly expanded line and has quickly gained recognition all over the country.

An online-only clothing company based in San Francisco, they design, manufacture, and release new inventions every week.

The Executive Pinstripe Hoodie is crafted from 100% merino wool. Pretty clean cut, straight lines, a paisley cloth lining adds a touch of class. A rare product with a sense of humor, purpose, and good quality, all in one.

The Varsity Bike to Work Pants are black cotton-twill, offer a great fit, and flexible fabric. The lined pant cuffs are made of reflective material, perfect for rolling up.

They also offer Japants, which are American style trousers (cargo details), with a Tokyo fit. Also check out the Dress Pant Sweatpants, which are, as you can guess, some finely tailored, comfy sweatpants.

“Not sure how this was missed this yesterday, but it suddenly dawned on me that there’s something about writing a blog post about bloggers that seems to break some sort of time & space continuum. I think the kids call it “meta”, a word that’s seems to have been reintroduced to the pop-culture lexicon of late. Sure, it’s certainly not the first time journalists, for example, have featured the work of one of their own, however, more often than not, it’s done posthumously. Props are props, but why not let your peers know they’re respected, admired, etc. before they’re no longer around to enjoy the public adoration? Hence this post.

Again, we’ve been lucky enough to gather up a couple more folks from the interwebs we all know & love & asked them to share with us some of their top picks for the coming season figuring, honestly, they probably had better taste than us. Today Jamison Aweau (Anchor Division) & Jake Gallagher (Wax Wane) drop some knowedge on their spring kit before we round up this three-part post on Monday with Brad Bennett (Well ... Read More »

Again, we’ve been lucky enough to gather up a couple more folks from the interwebs we all know & love & asked them to share with us some of their top picks for the coming season figuring, honestly, they probably had better taste than us. Today Jamison Aweau (Anchor Division) & Jake Gallagher (Wax Wane) drop some knowedge on their spring kit before we round up this three-part post on Monday with Brad Bennett (Well Spent) & Mariah Kunkel (Quite Continental).

Launched in 2010, Anchor Division has recently undergone a make-over & we have to say, the site is looking sharp. Jamison Aweau, the man behind the site, takes inspiration from all things oldey tyme — and from all things relevant. Focusing attention on building as much exclusive content — and with an apparently clear appreciation of vintage military, the site has it’s sights on growing with content focused on womenswear as well as a soon-to-open web shop. We can only say our appreciation for Jamison’s well-edited site will inevitably grow, too.

It often goes without saying — but, be cautious when it comes to online auction sites or classifieds. Alteri reminds us that sometimes you are not only buying a watch, but also the assurance and peace of mind that comes with a trusted dealer. Know who you are dealing with and find a dealer that has good reviews across the board while a stamp from the Better Business Bureau is often a worthwhile consideration. If you are cautious, find the model you want that has the original box and papers even if it cost five to ten percent more. Records of past maintenance should also be provided as a watch should be serviced roughly every seven years.

Recognizing that owning a gold, diamond or mother of pearl Rolex may not be on everyone’s list of priorities, below is a recommended list of Rolex models and their price range.

Around $2,000 USD — Rolex Vintage Oyster 6694 with Stainless Steel Rivet Bracelet
Introduced in the early ’60s, this manual winding watch is the perfect entry level Rolex. It features a fixed cyclops magnified date window on acrylic crystal, a signed screw down crown and a classic silver dial. Although categorized as a men’s watch, the Rolex Vintage Oyster 6694 has become a popular model in Europe amongst men and women alike.

USD $2,000 to $4,000 — Rolex Air-King Stainless Steel 14000
Made popular in the ’30s by British RAF pilots, the Air King features a simple and elegant design making it a truly understated Rolex. This Air-King 14000 features a automatic winding movement, scratch resistant sapphire crystal, 27 jewels and silver stick markers. Its historical significance makes this watch highly sought after.

USD $4,000 to $6,000 — Rolex Submariner 14060 No Date
Featuring a large 40mm case, the no-date version boasts a simple face and is water resistant up to 300 meters. As you’d assume, the Submariner is intended to be a divers watch thanks to its extreme resilience against the elements. The Submariner watch face is arguably the most recognized and replicated watch designs in the world.

USD $6,000 and Above — Rolex GMT Master II Stainless Steel and Gold 116713
One of Rolex’s original collaborations with Pan Am Airways, the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) Master II features a unique 24-hour hand that is used to keep track of two different times simultaneously. Worn by numerous jet setters, this is the watch for long-haul travelers who have business in multiple time zones.

The double cuff wrap is a personal favorite of mine. The Double wrap cuff is an 8/9 ounce oak shoulder leather cuff with Sam Brown nickel button closure. They are available in black, chocolate brown or London Tan. The second item is the Top Zip wallet made from Tan Elk. This has different purposes, the larger one is great for adding your phone and wallet along with a few other things you may need to add, as it has quite a bit of space, the smaller one is about the size of a deck of cards and can accompany any smaller items you may have in your pocket that you dont want to lose.

Doane Paper sent me a few of these awesome little notepads. These are a great alternative to Field Notes not only because of the price point and the excellent illustration by Jon Contino, but because it mixes both standard line for writing with the grid lines for designing or drawing. Another unique item that was added was this Horween Leather Utility Notepad Cover, which can also be purchased through the store. The notepads tend to wear down fast going in and out of your pocket but this case keep the notepad crisp. The case was handmade here in america and made exclusively for Doane Paper.

A tough economy has made most people choose a cheaper overseas production rate over national pride while letting craft and skillful blue collar work in America slowly fade away. When Animal first started all of our parts (although a small range of sprockets, pegs, and stems) were made domestically. We continued to make these products domestically until all of our manufacturers slowly started going out of business. We tried finding new manufacturers in the U.S. but they were all closing too.
At the onset of deciding to make a proper clothing line we couldn’t find anywhere locally to make what we wanted so we went overseas. After being involved in the apparel industry and doing some digging we found a few different manufacturers we are really happy to work at home. The first of which was Demartini Canvas who produced our Kenmare back pack. Now we are expanding our Made in USA range with the Branded hat made by our friends at Quintin and Branded jacket made right here in New York City. Both the hat and jacket are made of wax cotton, which was milled in New Jersey where we drove to pick it up right from the factory. Waxed cotton is incredibly durable, windproof and water proof. It wears like leather and only gets better with age. On top of that this jacket is constructed to military-grade specifications. Accompanying these are two t-shirts: the Northern shirt, Made in USA and printed by America Icon in Newburgh, NY and the Branded pocket shirt which was constructed and assembled at a factory in Brooklyn a few blocks from my house.

This collection is small run and only available directly through our web-store. Although we’d love to produce all of our products domestically right not it’s just not possible. But look out for more small drops of locally made clothing in the future.

Anchor Division and Indicode are doing a Selvedge Denim (2 Pairs) Give-away from their upcoming Fall / Winter Release. I have added a few additional pictures here. A brief description of the denim. The Selvedge Denim is a 13.5oz that were spun in 30″ vintage shuttle looms. These are the “3 Month Wash” Denim. More unique styles of denim are in under wraps. Two lucky winners will be announced within the next few days and will be given a pair to their size. I myself grabbed a pair and had them tailored (shortened). They’re a high quality denim that i highly recommend.
To enter the contest, simply “LIKE” both of these pages and share this post / reblog.

I have never been a big fan of athletic wear. When i first talked to Cedric, he had showed me some of his first designs. I’ve always been a big fan of modern or futuristic styles of fashion. Most of you will know that i base about 90-95% of my aesthetic on vintage inspiration. When i was looking over his designs, its was the perfect form of taking old, athletic uniforms ( baseball, hunting, etc.) and completely re-vamping and re-modifying them. It’s an aquired taste but i can see these trending in the near future. Companies and consumers are always looking something “fresh”, something new to bring to the table and i think Contemporary Athletics does just this. Be on the look out.

Heres some shots from his Functional Aesthetics lookbook in black and white. Thought id change it up a little.

There is a strong presense of leather products out there, not to mention iPhone cases. This one caught my eye. I’m usually the type to carry around dark brown leather iphone cases or wallets but the white added “class” per say. It was a more flashy look (as i needed for the more dressy wear). This is the white 100% Genuine Pebbled Leather. That holds one important card. The price point on this case is perfect in my opinion. Its almost a sacrafice for the person putting the hardwork into this. Check out more of his products here.

Eayrslee Carry Goods
We were sent some bags to review and upon viewing i was highly attracted specifically to the Jones Duffel. We wanted to show the bag in a travel-like fashion. It makes a great carry on when traveling via plane. The interior of the bag features a laptop slot. This is a mix of canvas-like material and leather. The inside is lined with almost a navy silk. We also featured and shot the Antique tan Nicholson Bag. This is an all leather briefcase which can be carried like an every-day briefcase but it can also be used as a backpack which in my opinion, if you’re on foot a lot, this comes in handy.

Ludwig Van x Quintin ’Scout Series’ Caps

Ludwig Van once again teams up with Californian headwear brand Quintin, to put his own unique spin on the brand’s 6 panel caps using deadstock military fabrics from years gone by.
This isn’t the first time Van has worked with Quintin, having produced a deadstock denim cap as part of his ‘Selvedge Project’ last year. This time, Ludwig Van takes WWII-era army green twill, vintage duck canvas, and Vietnam War-era Mitchell camo, transforming the caps into two timeless surplus style pieces. Each is finished with a debossed leather patch, Japanese broadcloth lining, and a selvedge denim stash pocket – so you definitely get your money’s worth

Heres some of the photos with a brief description of what was in store for me.
