Dior Homme has us gearing up for the autumn months with this video lookbook for the brand’s Fall 2013 collection. The monochromatic video showcases some of the finest upcoming looks for the season. As usual, the garbs remain tailored and minimalist, with a real focus on cut and quality materials — think sumptuous leathers, thick wool fabrics, and nylon. In addition to the garments, the video also presents a quick look at some of the upcoming leather goods from the brand.
All credit to Soulland for making all over elephants a desirable look with their Babar collection, a project we were all over. Returning to normal proceedings, we take another look at Fall Winter 2013 - a Japanese Baseball/90s inspired line-up, this time in lookbook form.
Canadian label wings + horns launched its lookbook for Fall/Winter 2013 recently, keeping their no-frills approach to design alive in the pieces. As opposed to pattern-heavy collections revealed this season, the brand has vested its interests in craftsmanship and fit for its contemporary aesthetic, which is reinforced throughout. Athletic staples such as varsity jackets and sweatpants have been given sleek, slender silhouettes, while urban staples such as pea coats and denim have been presented in rich materials. The brand’s latest release is admirably versatile, and the latest refined garb from wings + horns is the perfect asset to an active lifestyle.
From the harsh winters of Canada, KRANE shares with us their Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook filled with options for battling winter. Sure we may not be in the mood for cold weather options right now, but winter will roll around again soon enough. Combining old-school leather tailoring techniques, KRANE creates a collection filled with sharp modern silhouettes inspired by architecture. Look out for military influences in the Russian military blanket overcoat and bombers.
In the case of A.P.C., less, it seems, is always more. Founder Jean Touitou frowns upon all things overly-designed and every season, his chic, pared-back designs remind us of the joys — and inherent coolness — of classic minimalism. In the spirit of the label, A.P.C.’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection features lightweight outerwear, sweaters, accessories, and the perfect tees for the season. Should you be looking for spring’s essential jacket, the brand’s Blue Heavyweight Denim Jacket provides a washed, slim-cut version, while the Classic Bomber Jacket is an update of a classic in Italian canvas. Touitou has also been working hard on this season’s perfect tee, and the Amor Fati T-Shirt hails from his new line of basics focused on fit and fabric. Rounding out the collection are simple crewnecks in leopard and nautical stripes, along with brushstroke prints and subtle stripes that prove basic doesn’t always have to be boring.
From its beginnings as the originator of the flat trunk, Louis Vuitton has always been about the art of escaping in style. Consider the fact that designer Kim Jones is himself an avid wanderer and natural historian and it’s no surprise that the house’s Fall/Winter 2013 presentation was one of Paris Fashion Week’s most buzzed-about shows. Taking luxury exploration to new heights — both literally and figuratively — Jones sojourned to Bhutan and Nepal to research the collection and set it against the backdrop of a 20-foot tall projection of Mount Everest. Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2013 isn’t quite ready to hit stores, but we were recently presented with the opportunity to preview the collection in all of its fur-trimmed glory. In addition to the house’s storied luggage and accessories, next season’s wares include runway standouts like ethnic-printed eveningwear, snow leopard coats and leather jackets, sumptuous accoutrements for the most adventurous — and well-heeled — of travelers.
Brooklyn’s CADET shares with us a few pieces from their Spring Summer 2013 collection. The Bushwick, Brooklyn based outfit does a strong job of modernizing this trouser into a casual day wear staple. Inspired by vintage air force pants, CADET created these with a slim cut, airrib cuffs, knee patches and a cinch belt at the back. Available now in denim and camo.
We bring you another great editorial by the folks of Japanese magazine GRIND today. In their last issue they shot the new COMME des GARCONS HOMME Spring/Summer 2013 line. Highlighted are a solid range of shirts, technical outerwear, blazers and in general summery colors and looks.
This week two new backpacks have released from the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. The mid-size bags are perfect for everyday use and mix premium materials and prints on an otherwise clean silhouette. The backpack is offered in a black mesh/black premium leather version and featuring a white/green green paisley print version with matching green premium leather. Both Givenchy backpacks are now available from Ssense, priced at around 1000 USD.
Yet another solid presentation from New York Fashion Week is Balmain’s diffusion line, Pierre Balmain that derives its Fall/Winter 2013 collection from classic rock ‘n’ roll, yet gravitates it towards a more and obviously mature nature. Leather biker jackets and high leather boots maintains the rebel aesthetic while trench coats, two-piece suits and stiff button-down shirts bring on the London’s mod vibe. Clean and timeless, the Pierre Balmain range stands strong on its own bringing a decidedly comprehensive aesthetic to the Balmain name.
