Scott James present a few looks for Spring Summer 2013. The brand “rooted in Anglo-Italian tradition” focuses on smarter pieces for the warmer weather.  Light blazers, knee length pleated shorts, plenty of pastels and a general air of ‘catch me in the piazza drinking tiny strong coffees’. Shame they missed a trick sketching faces onto those mannequins.

Season after season, Daiki Suzuki‘s Engineered Garments proves that “heritage,” when done with inspiration and ingenuity, is not a fleeting trend. With the release of the Engineered Garments Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook, we are treated to yet another round of well-constructed, Americana-based pieces that are infused with Japanese sensibility and on-trend pattern usage. Ironically shot in black and white, the collection’s usage of loud and busy prints is tempered with soft, rumpled workwear and tailored basics colored in a neutral palette. Of-the-moment floral prints, paisley, patchwork and polka dots all make repeated appearances in a strong offering of unstructured blazers, anoraks, shorts, and other seasonal essentials. The lookbook, this time shot in an urban New York setting, also provides a nice change-up from the natural backdrops often favored by the label. Look for the Engineered Garments Spring/Summer 2013 collection to hit stores in the near future. Source: Fashion Press

Here is a peek at the CREEP Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook—showing a good balance of rugged mountain manliness and almost pre-adolescent whimsy (camouflage blazers will always look better on five-year-old boys). Also, great work meeting the “creep” quotient with some incredibly sleazy acid wash denim (especially killing in the shorter shorts format). Patterns galore, too, as Hiroshi Awai’s vision continues to evolve within the intriguing parameters of a Japanese vision colored by Canadian headquarters—or vice versa … you decide.

"Founded in 1961 and based near Venice, Barena has a long history of making great clothing. It is only recently, under the creative direction of Francesca Zara, that the collection truly come into its own. To me Barena draws a parallel to one of my other favorite Italian brands: Slowear. Both should be talked about more, both should be sold in more stores and both should be on the backs of more men. With both now available in New York at Barney’s, at least they are obtainable to a degree. It’s a start. Much like its ability to be properly dressed and at the same time comfortably casual, Barena balances the art of being humble and outstanding. Very few can lay claim to those traits, and even less can do it while looking as good as Barena does." -ACL

Berluti’s second ready-to-wear collection is a predictably swanky affair. Leather, nubuck, suede, originally boot-makers these guys know how to create beautiful things from hide. Hand woven detail, Japanese denim, hand painted seams, tailored jackets, cashmere, gabardine, mohair… Described as “masculine elegance with a fifties feel”,  luxury menswear indeed.
