Three Years Later: Corter Utility Belt - Simplethreads

Three Years Later: Corter Utility Belt

"It’s been somewhere around three years that I’ve been wearing this belt everyday. One of the first American made pieces I picked up that really made me realize that you truly get what you pay for. Starting out as natural vegetable tanned leather, it has darkened and developed some really nice patina. I snapped these just to share with Eric, but figured I’d share ‘em here. Looking back at where he was when I purchased this belt from him, it’s really amazing to see how he’s expanded Corter Leather. It definitely shows that guys (and gals) are more interested in quality over quantity. "

A Bathing Ape x Schott NYC 2012 Fall/Winter Riders Jacket

Schott NYC and A Bathing Ape have reunited for the 2012 fall/winter season, resulting in this exclusive leather jacket. This time around the classic Schott NYC Riders jacket has been chosen as the base model. A rather in-depth process went in to choosing the type of leather that was used for the outer of the jacket. By selecting the hide of a cow that had birthed a calf over two years before, the team found that the resulting product was smoother and thinner than that of a steer but stronger and thicker than calf skin. To make sure whoever does purchase this jacket does not forget that it is a BAPE product the nylon inner features an OG Green Camo pattern throughout. All other branding has been kept to a minimum, with no obvious logos on show, not even the traditional BAPE tag. The A Bathing Ape x Schott NYC Riders jacket is expected to release in the fall with a Japanese retail price of ¥84,000 JPY (approximately $1,070 USD).

The Classics: Biker Jackets - Mr. Porter

There's something about leather biker jackets: as soon as you slip one on, you instantly become a more rebellious, alive version of yourself, with the swagger to match - even if you're not actually a biker or rock star. It doesn't matter if the closest contact you have with a motorbike is when a courier delivers your online shopping; biker jackets are such a masculine and effortlessly stylish wardrobe staple, it's impossible to resist getting in on the action. Click through the gallery above to see a handful of men who have worn them well, and to learn more about the origins of this enduring classic.

Mr. Porter - Bags of Style

Although we're not against small suitcases with wheels for practical purposes, especially when travelling for business, you can't beat a good old-fashioned holdall in the style stakes. The fact that you have to exert some effort to carry a full holdall adds a masculine dimension to their appeal. If you're whisking your beloved away for the weekend, a small pull-along case (incidentally similar to the ones that air stewardesses use) won't convey the optimum message. You should be thinking spontaneity, adventure and style, and not look as if you're trundling off to the annual cost-cutting conference. Click through the gallery above to see five holdalls that fit the bill.

Himel Brothers x Self Edge - Heron Horsehide Jacket

We stumbled across Himel Brothers a while back and were immediately impressed with their Toronto made, repro leather jackets. Here they step into collaboration territory with Self Edge, a match that definitely gets our seal of approval. The Heron is packed full of amazing detail. The style is based on the A-1 (predecessor to the A-2 and one of the most beautiful pre-zipper models) as well as civilian/motorcycle jackets from the 20s/30s. Deadstock melamine buttons, WW2 Marine Camo lining, Vegetable Tanned Horsehide, stenciled spec numbers…the list continues. This Shawl collar gem is currently available in very limited numbers online.
