Much of the work of Japanese label Sacai is an exercise in creating harmony through contradictory patterns, fabrics, and knit elements. The forthcoming collection from the label is of no exception with its uniquely patterned series of two-tone knits, and an innovative rendition of the classic MA-1 bomber jacket. Even Sacai’s classic dress shirt gets special attention at the hem and cuffs. However, while many of these design elements help create a more distinctive aesthetic, they are also subtle innovations to improve the fit or feel of the garment. You can shop the new Sacai collection here, from Los Angeles-based outfitter, Union.

Commune de Paris’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection continues the Bohemian trend by pairing classic earthy tones overlapping bright and natural colors like Kerry green and sky blue. Broad definitive lines paired with slim cuts and traditional designs aim to be standout pieces among the range. When reaching towards the most basic layers and accessories, we begin to see a more familiar Commune de Paris — designs and hues that resemble hanging shop signs in 19th century Europe. Its fall/winter line includes collaborations with graphic artists HONET and Sandrine Pelletier are whimsical and humorous, drawing inspiration from Brothers Grimm woodblock prints and Magritte, respectively. Both collaborations include tees, handkerchiefs and tote bags. In addition, a line with Astier de Villate will be released in December. Commune de Paris will also be teaming up with Maison Fabre on a line of leather gloves soon to be released in September.

Here is a peek at the CREEP Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook—showing a good balance of rugged mountain manliness and almost pre-adolescent whimsy (camouflage blazers will always look better on five-year-old boys). Also, great work meeting the “creep” quotient with some incredibly sleazy acid wash denim (especially killing in the shorter shorts format). Patterns galore, too, as Hiroshi Awai’s vision continues to evolve within the intriguing parameters of a Japanese vision colored by Canadian headquarters—or vice versa … you decide.
