Our latest find is this set of Black Playing Cards which happen to please our eyeballs mightily Following the commandment set forth by the likes of Jay-Z, this deck sports all black everything. The black on black print makes for an aesthetically pleasing and slightly demonic feel (especially considering the face card designs). Just make sure you aren’t playing your next poker night in an awfully lit bunker.

Stighlorgan’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection dubbed “when the north blows” is inspired by a modern island that faces a dark and tumultuous ocean – depicted in a lovely poem by Davin Gaffney. All items in the collection have been inspired by this poem. From the Batten range, which takes its name from “batten down the hatches” and features extra large storm flaps which can be secured over exposed zips and pockets, to the buoy range which features natural calico cotton canvases lacquered with neon red and cyan blues. Keeping up momentum with previous seasons, the whole collection has once again been reinvented for the season and features all new styles, fabrics and techniques as well as new product areas such as small leather goods, technical accessories and headwear.
On the outside, the Nomos Tangente Datum Watch looks deceivingly innocent, perhaps almost too simple to function. The watch’s 37.5mm face and slim profile lend it a delicate, elegant edge. However, as with all great things (people included), a minimalist exterior betrays the watch’s complex innards. The German brand has already won a 2012 Good Design for this model, which uses its signature “Beta” system to reduce weight by placing the date functions on the outside perimeter of the movement. A sapphire backing allows for full view of the watch’s inner workings. The Tangente Datum is available for $2,610 at Wempe New York and other retailers, as well as Nomos’ online store.

Japanese label NEIGHBORHOOD brings a new technical helmet for Spring/Summer 2013: the OWL VISOR/FCL-HELMET. Fashioned in the style of antique motorcycle silhouettes, this helmet takes a stylish approach to a traditionally utilitarian design. On the exterior, the OWL VISOR / FCL-HELMET takes a gold base, overlaid with a simple black cross. On the interior is a plush material, collaged with black and white animation design. A unique chinstrap leaves comfortable room for the ears, reducing weight on the head while securing the jaw in place. Look for the helmet on NEIGHBORHOOD’s web shop.
