Season-after-season, Carhartt WIP manages to blend two worlds — functional military aesthetics with timeless staples fit for any menswear wardrobe. For Spring/Summer 2013, the Carhartt WIP imprint releases a new camouflage iteration to its blazer. Manufactured from 100% Cotton ‘Columbia’ 6.5 oz Ripstop, the jacket arrives in an unlined construction with a tailored fit. Two oversized front pockets reside upon the torso while a minimal Carhartt patch sits along the left chest.

When Carhartt WIP initially unveiled its Carhartt Heritage extension, it stepped out on its new excursion by looking to the rich history of the brand for inspiration and design tenants. Fast forward to Spring/Summer 2013, and the Detroit, Michigan, workwear brand hasn’t strayed very far from its origins of functional and well-made goods that stand the test of time. This season sees an addition to the Carhartt Heritage line via the Dozier Bomber in a muted Hamilton Brown colorway. Made from 9.9 oz, 100% Cotton Canvas, the jacket juxtaposes supple corduroy accents along the collar and contrasting Norwegian embroidery along the upper chest and shoulders. Contrasting ribbed cuffs and lower hem round out the classic bomber silhouettes.

Thom Browne has been collaborating with Moncler since 2008 on the Gamme Bleu line and their offerings for Spring/Summer 2013 are some of the strongest yet. Every collection has seen Browne infuse his personal style, a silhouette that has been one of the most dominant forces on menswear in recent history, into high end, hand constructed pieces that incorporate the history of the storied French outdoor brand with all of the reverence which it deserves.

This season’s collection draws influence from the world of the sea, from classic high end sailing styles to traditional naval apparel, to create a series of progressive and directional pieces constructed to the expert standard that we have come to expect from the Gamme Bleu line.

For this season Mr Browne has applied this m.o. to a series of high end versions of every day basics that combine nautical detailing with his classic stylistic hallmarks. The long and short sleeved stripe tee’s are bear the classic horizontal print, are made in Italy from a premium cotton jersey and are constructed with a wide neck, inspired by functional naval styles. The nautical influence is particularly apparent in this season’s collection of knitwear with the Tricolour Tipped Cardigan and Crew Neck Sweater. Both feature a sailing naval inspired shoulder tri-colour tipped shoulder closure, secured by the collections trademark rubberized and branded press studs.

The collection of outerwear on offer in this collection yields some of its strongest results, taking the athletic inspiration behind this season’s work to create a selection of intriguing silhouettes in a hand selected range of first class materials. Gamme Bleu staples such as press stud secured blazers appear in sailing inspired cuts, boasting unique details such as drawstring adjustable waists, are on offer alongside direct translations of heritage nautical pieces. The Cordura Sailor Jacket takes an iconic naval style, with a particularly distinctive silhouette and recreates it in Cordura cotton, constructed to an exceptional standard.

Any Moncler collection isn’t complete without one of their signature down jackets and the Gamme Bleu’s offering does not disappoint. The two tone Nylon Down jacket is made in Italy and stuffed with their 90/10 down, designed to offer ultimate protection from the elements.

For its 2013 spring/summer collection, Louis Vuitton calls upon nautical expeditions, luxurious sporting and laid-back outfitting as central themes of its expansive range. While fluorescent plaid and sporty, eye-catching designs decorate shorts and T-shirts with athletic aspirations, cashmere pullovers, linen shirts and classic footwear profiles display a softer, more casual elegance. Elsewhere, well-fitted blazers, suiting, and a prestigious eyewear range showcase the French fashion house’s timeless approach towards tailoring. Rounded out by a luxe set of bags - in both classic and bright, hiker-inspired renditions of the iconic monogram - the lookbook displays the elegant range against a lush East African coastal backdrop. Lightweight, technical and above all, luxurious, the collection is a no-brainer for the modern globetrotter. Look for the collection at Louis Vuitton boutiques soon.

plain white oxford shirt is one of the quintessential shirt options that you really should have in your closet. It is a shirt that bears all the hallmarks of a multi-purpose item, as you can pair it with anything, wear it just about everywhere and it never looks out of place. I'm a big fan of this particular version from Hamilton Shirts– the details, craftsmanship, and use of Italian cotton are all a part of the appeal. The flap chest pocket has a built in pen slot and the fit is on the slim side- not tight, which is how it should properly fit. I've paired it with Ruell and Ray's new washed denim, and my favorite belt option from Billy Moore's Cause and Effect line, the River Belt. The hand hammered leather and hand made copper buckle are what really makes this belt special.

This Charcoal Stadium Jacket with matte black snaps has become a daily staple for me, it's classic cut and fit is perfect, and we've recently taken stock of this version in our shop. To complete this weeks kit, I've added the original briefcase from Filson as my favorite option when it comes to a non-leather briefcase. It holds your laptop and notebooks for work or meetings and the removable shoulder strap comes in handy when you're traveling.

Though “black” is implied in the name, Maiden Noir‘s Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook is anything but dark. The brand presents a full line of shorts, shirts, sweaters and other layering options for the approaching season. T-shirts with contrasting pockets seem to be favored heavily here, though the formula is offered in too many flavors – black & white striped, khaki, navy & orange – to be labeled monotonous. Other highlights include a casual shirt and pair of shorts offered in an indigo/white floral print, a heather mint crewneck, and a two-tone khaki work shirt. Maiden Noir’s 2013 spring/summer goods will be available on the brand’s online shop, and at select retailers, in the coming weeks.
