GANT Rugger present their Pre-Fall 2013 with a strong collection with a blend of tailored garments as well as easy-to-wear styles put together with a very strong narrative. Said to be influenced heavily by the idea of old military uniforms from World War II but with modern detailing – sports coats, parade gear all combined with classic street-wear like jumpers and cardigans. Personally I am enjoying the strong storyline behind the brand that’s beginning to take fold. The combination of dressing up yet blending in with the environment will lead to a collection that will fit into the wardrobes of many.
Everlane has offered up a uniquely rugged take on your average denim construction with the introduction of its Reverse-Denim Collection for Summer 2013. Featuring a reverse design that sees the grey weft of the denim on the exterior of the pieces, the collection includes brown leather trim and water-resistant khaki twill interiors. The entirety of the collection – which includes a weekender, backpack, tote bag and dopp kit – can now be purchased online for between $30 USD and $95 USD.
Another great capsule line from Unionmade. As the San Francisco store explains – ‘The collection started with a simple idea: The Absence of Color. With the arrival of Spring and so much going on, we thought this would be the perfect time to surround ourselves with easy, neutral pieces.’ The key to these collections (remember when they went all Indigo?) are the exclusives they commission from some of their top labels. No picking pieces to fit, the full range specially made for the Natural project. So, expect to see the likes of Filson, Anonymous-ism, Journal Standard, Tender, Merz B Schawnen, Golden Bear and plenty more. Beautiful V-Stitch sweatshirts, subdued print button down shirts, patchwork pattern socks and clean, unfussy footwear. Grab it all here.
From its beginnings as the originator of the flat trunk, Louis Vuitton has always been about the art of escaping in style. Consider the fact that designer Kim Jones is himself an avid wanderer and natural historian and it’s no surprise that the house’s Fall/Winter 2013 presentation was one of Paris Fashion Week’s most buzzed-about shows. Taking luxury exploration to new heights — both literally and figuratively — Jones sojourned to Bhutan and Nepal to research the collection and set it against the backdrop of a 20-foot tall projection of Mount Everest. Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2013 isn’t quite ready to hit stores, but we were recently presented with the opportunity to preview the collection in all of its fur-trimmed glory. In addition to the house’s storied luggage and accessories, next season’s wares include runway standouts like ethnic-printed eveningwear, snow leopard coats and leather jackets, sumptuous accoutrements for the most adventurous — and well-heeled — of travelers.
Yet another solid presentation from New York Fashion Week is Balmain’s diffusion line, Pierre Balmain that derives its Fall/Winter 2013 collection from classic rock ‘n’ roll, yet gravitates it towards a more and obviously mature nature. Leather biker jackets and high leather boots maintains the rebel aesthetic while trench coats, two-piece suits and stiff button-down shirts bring on the London’s mod vibe. Clean and timeless, the Pierre Balmain range stands strong on its own bringing a decidedly comprehensive aesthetic to the Balmain name.
A beautiful lookbook from the team at Unionmade. Snatching a whole heap of Harris Tweed, shipping it from Scotland to be reformed in the USA, the San Francisco store brings in some well known names for this collection. Down jackets, overshirts, totes, blazers, handkerchiefs, ties and vests from the likes of Crescent Down Works, Gitman Vintage, The Hill-side, Golden Bear, Filson and Todd Snyder. Find it all here.
This collection takes the brand to new heights with the introduction of selvedge denim jeans and two new outerwear styles. This season is the most advanced thus far, with a focus on superior manufacturing techniques and high quality fabric selection.
