After nearly six years of process, celebrated multi-disciplinary conceptual designer Aitor Throup unveiled his very first ready-to-wear collection to the eagerly anticipating eyes of the fashion world. Throup first made an impression at London Fashion Week in 2007 and has infused a variety of influences along the way to present his newest project: New Object Research. The release, which took place at London’s King’s Cross Gallery, is half-installation, half-fashion show. Infusing a highly utilitarian and technical aesthetic with his passionate attention to the human anatomy (Throup created the model mannequins himself), the new collection seems expertly designed to the natural movements of the body. In addition, there is a certain sportswear influence about the line, but as with much of Throup’s work, there is no definitive interpretation of the pieces.
