In a long respected union of design finesse, the New York-based Thom Browne and Los Angeles-based Dita present their latest eyewear collaboration with this behind-the-scenes catalog. Expressing the utmost mutual admiration for each other’s progressive vision and aesthetic virtue, the catalog also reveals factory images that expound on the production process. 250 craftsmen in seven factories took 600 man-hours over eight months to individually hand-make these gorgeous vintage-inspired eyewear pieces, and their uncompromising quality and substance surely attest to all that work. Thom Browne is launching a new capsule collection called Thom Grey. It's supposed to be a more affordable alternative which is aimed at a youngerconsumer. In general, while the prices are less expensive than the main collection they're still up there in price.

Thom Browne himself recently spoke with WWD about his reasoning behind creating a secondary line and who it's targeted to: “Thom Grey was created to exemplify a more youthful and university inspired sensibility. While my signature design aesthetic will be visible, Thom Grey exudes an autonomous youthful independent streak. In the designs, you will see true American sportswear-inspired pieces, including softer tailored jackets and trousers, less structured outerwear, a good assortment of wool and cotton knits and true American oxford shirts - everything a young guy wants to wear today."

A handful of retailers have already committed to sell the Thom Grey line: Barneys New York, Harrods, the Galleria in Seoul, and I.T boutiques in Hong Kong and Beijing. Each of these stores have a one year exclusive with Thom Grey, which is a unique strategy considering that Thom Browne has their own standalone shops. You can check out the rest of the collection that's already out by going to the Barneys website.

Hailing from the American fashion designer’s 2012 fall/winter collection, this Thom Browne Varsity Jacket makes for an outstanding piece of outerwear. A throwback to college prep and varsity days, the piece uses light brown tweed in its body against contrasting white sleeves and front pocket accents. The silhouette is then artfully finished with a ribbed collar, cuff and waist trimmings in signature red, white and blue stripes. The casual jacket will soon be available here for ¥142,800 JPY (approximately $1,823 USD).
