Know how you're walking down the street and you see someone with the exact same item as you? Well you don't have to worry about that with Forestbound. Forestbound only uses found and salvaged textiles to create a line of durable, utilitarian bags. Their designer Alice Saunders searches for the perfect historic fabrics and hardware all throughout New England. Most of these bags use materials from the '30s, '40s, '50s, and the general WWII era. Some of the unique fabrics include a WWII era US military duffel bag, a 1930s era cement worker's apron, and  a 1950s era Boyscout pack. The beauty of these bags is that while there may be some fabric discoloration, you don't mind it because that's what gives them character. Forestbound also uses some additional fabrics to give these bags a more luxe feel, like soft and supple deerskin. Find your perfect one here.

The STASH* bag from Ghurka is a reintroduction of their  No. 67 STASH bag. Why the asterisk? Because this one comes at the behest of Wallpaper* magazine. The stash pocket here is not one for your opiates, however. Instead, it is a smart, wide-mouthed “shoe garage” that lets you tote less than pritine footwear without worry of sullying your fineries in the main compartment. “It’s the evolution of our traditional bags using new technologically and environmentally advanced leathers and linings—with thought given to both technological and classic travel needs,” the Connecticut  bagmaker explains. “The outer shell is constructed from a specially treated waterproof Limonta twill, edged with an innovative waterproof leather.” Sounds good, but you had us at “shoe garage.”

Inspired from vintage naval aesthetics, these bags are constructed from a heavy-duty cotton/poly canvas and are large enough to manage heavy loads.  The reinforced stitched handle and adjustable shoulder strap allow for easy handling to the laundry room or cleaners and double their function as a perfect gym bag, boat tote, or everyday duffel.  Thick rope laced through reinforced brass rings at the top of each bag keeps your clothes bundled tight, meaning no more missing socks.

The high-quality construction of Izola’s laundry bags is undeniable, but what really sets them apart is their detail. Attached to each bag is a list of tips for the perfect wash.  With instructions this simple, guys will no longer need to worry about shrinking sweaters or bleeding brights.

Stanley & Sons who last featured in this Backyard Bill story, have just announced the release of a new bag. The line generally doesn’t change too much so interesting to see the addition of a fresh style. Having got it right with all their previous models, this is, as expected, a winner. Here they use waxed canvas for the first time, 24oz of it, 5oz hand-dyed leather on the flap, brass buckle front closure, copper rivets and a selection of straps. Available in plenty of colour choices, it’s a done deal for us. Find it here.
