Givenchy 2013 Spring/Summer Editorial

Having earlier explored his interest in Americana, along with his admiration for the ‘Land of Opportunity’ – through stars and stripes, Creative Director Riccardo Tisci reverts back to his Italian origins for the label’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The latest Givenchy collection explores the significance of communion when at a cult-like degree, and simultaneously allows hints of romanticism to seep through — apparent in the reworked ‘Madonnas and Child’ graphic and priest-like robes. Moving away from sportswear materials, the line makes good use of tailoring and fabric selection, as seen in the elongated shapes, boxier cuts, and the use of delicate materials such as silk chiffon, duchesse satin, organza and Japanese high density wool. Tisci’s signature emotion-evoking designs speak loudly in this upcoming collection, and although eerie at times, it offers a sense of disturbing tranquility that is only to be disrupted by the sounding of a church bell.

Zara Man 2012 October Collection

Spanish fast fashion giant Zara recently unveiled its October menswear collection. Featuring a mix of menswear staples and workwear-inspired pieces, the new collection offers a complete wardrobe collection for a variety of styles. The color palette for the latest collection stays relatively subdued with standout pieces include a camel colored trench coat with leather sleeve detailing and a black sweater with shoulder stud detailing. In addition to the clothing options several accessories pieces are also available with the grey cotton and leather duffle a particular highlight. Look for the collection to make its way to Zara retail outlets soon. Source: D’Marge

J.Lindeberg 2013 Spring/Summer Collection

“Sweden from above” provided the inspiration for J.Lindeberg‘s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. As seen through the Swedish label’s design lens, this bird’s eye view of the country translated to clean lines, watery shades of blue, forest hues, and sandy neutrals. Black leather and bright flashes of orange, meanwhile, hinted at other, slightly less rustic influences — in this case, motorcycle culture. Long a Lindeberg affinity, biker jackets came in nylon-lined makeups, layered under and over suit jackets. Speaking of suits, there was an increased emphasis on tailoring for the new collection — as CEO Stefan Engström had pronounced earlier, “We want to really establish ourselves as a Scandinavian fashion house.” This meant slim-cut suits with high armholes, many of them double-breasted, showing a renewed initiative towards higher levels of sartorial relevance.

McQ by Alexander McQueen 2013 Spring/Summer Lookbook

In early anticipation of its 2013 foray, McQ by Alexander McQueen unveils the comprehensive imagery to its Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook. The collection from the late namesake designer arrives nothing short of legacy-honoring as each outfit balances the fine line between strictly high-end, contemporary menswear, with elements of offbeat and unconventional details, prints and cutting. While the latter segment of the lookbook takes on a decidedly monochromatic overtone via black and white tailored blazers, slender shirting options and cropped trousers, the collection also infuses customized camouflage embellishments and all-over print, military-inspired patterns for a decidedly more casual segment. In a way that few design houses are able to execute, the collection affords various influences that tap into the psyche of its diverse identity in both color iterations, pattern choices as well as silhouette presentations. Double-rider-influenced jackets reside beside muted, unassuming casual blazers. Collarless leather outerwear brings tops off gradient print button-ups and swooping crop bottoms. From a night out and drinks with friends, to a full-scale Fashion Week-ready outfit, the upcoming McQ by Alexander McQueen range looks to provide a bit for everyone.

Natural Selection Denim 2012 Fall/Winter “MINIMALISM IN DENIM” Video Lookbook

Charles Darwin’s theory of Natural Selection wasn’t just the inspiration for the denim label of the same name, it was also the mantra. Evolve, or perish. Shot by London firm Hidden Agency, the contemporary British denim label recently released this video lookbook showcasing its Fall/Winter 2012 collection in various depictions of forward, evolutionary movement. Also evidenced by the video, simplicity reigns supreme in the classic jacket and pant silhouettes being offered in four distinct washes. Starting on August 23, the collection can be perused from the new multi-featured Natural Selection online shop, here.

Scott James Spring / Summer 2013

Scott James present a few looks for Spring Summer 2013. The brand “rooted in Anglo-Italian tradition” focuses on smarter pieces for the warmer weather.  Light blazers, knee length pleated shorts, plenty of pastels and a general air of ‘catch me in the piazza drinking tiny strong coffees’. Shame they missed a trick sketching faces onto those mannequins.

Neighborhood Fall/Winter 2012 Lookbook

Japanese brand Neighborhood is back this season with a new website and along with that also presents for the first time an official digital collection lookbook for its Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Highlighting stand out pieces from its new collection, a lookbook is always a great way of not only focussing on specific product, but more importantly the overall look and style of a brand and the way the brand imagines their clothing to be combined.

Neighborhood presents a nice range of solid outerwear for the new design and once again impresses with an incredible amount of detail on each one of their collection pieces. The accessories range is also great, including from more regular pieces, such as caps and bags, to more unique pieces, such as biker helmets.
