A look at the first delivery from the Club Monaco Autumn 2012 collection. In their words: “This season’s menswear collection takes a cue from iconic, sophisticated artists—George Harrison, Gregory Peck, Hunter S. Thompson, to name a few— and revisits their timeless elegance. Our take on this impossibly cool style includes adding a soft edge to our favorite closet staples.” Look for blazers, cable knit sweaters and tweeds that round out the collection. Club Monaco Autumn 2012 works casually or in more formal affairs. Color, textures and prints make the collection proper for all.

The collection is based around essential, staple garments that make up the backbone of any man’s wardrobe, as well as handily complementing some of the more daring pieces.

This project was a pleasant surprise as we take a return visit to the back streets of Oakland where denim guru Roy Slaper plys his trade. Cool Hunting have kindly put together this short film which provides somewhat of a summary of the work Roy undertakes in his studio, focusing in on the machinery he uses to create all the separate elements of his custom jeans, whilst reminding us all of the witty nature of Mr Slaper in the process.

“Building upon the foundations of Spring/Summer’s first drop, the second instalment of this season’s WTAPS collection brings together a selection of accessible, essential clothing which harnesses the designer’s core values. Founded in 1996, the Harajuku-based label has garnered a cult following for its uncompromising pursuit of functional excellence, basing their whole design ethos on ‘Placing things where they should be’. This considered approach towards garment design and production results in pieces which, as well as sitting perfectly alongside one another, also work in tandem with the wearer.

Fashionary has been on my radar for quite some time. I remember purchasing one from their founder, Penter Yip back in 2009/2010. They have since grown in an amazing way offering an assortment of different products. They made a smaller version of the original sketchbook (which has somewhat of a resemblance to Moleskine Journals). They also offer up memo sets and the current collaboration, Fashionary x Sibling boxset.
